Kenya Democracy for Change is a political party founded on the belief that Kenya and indeed the whole world should be managed in a democratic manner where the voices of every individual – whether right or wrong- are listened to and respected. The Party’s vision shall be to establish a just, prosperous and united nation where every citizen enjoys social, economic and democratic rights. The party is keen to build a social, democratic state and society in which all Kenyans will have a better life and feel at home as individuals. It is our belief that the culturally marginalized communities, people living with disabilities, youth and women should be given an equal opportunity to succeed in their individual endeavors.
The party is founded on the following principles
- Accountability and good governance: KDC is concern about the wanton disregard for sensible fiscal policy and systemic corruption. The KDC government will put in place strong and decisive measures including change of law to overcome the challenge of corruption and poor governance in all sectors.
- Equal rights for people with disabilities. It will be our priority to handle special cases with a lot of respect and dignity.
- Equal distribution of funds to all irrespective of colour, tribe and religion. .
Kenya Democracy For Change (KDC)
As the founding members of the Kenya Democracy for Change, we analyzed the state of affairs in our country. We found that the political, economic and social aspects of our lives and that of Kenyans is wanting. Our aim is to provide food, shelter and clean water to all. As we see, wananchi lack the basic necessities of life. It is for this reason that the KDC ascribes to the ideology of SOCIAL DEMOCRACY.
Scholars describe social democracy as the evolutionary form of democratic socialism that aims to gradually and peacefully achieve socialism through established political processes. As KDC, we see social democracy as an ideology that is aimed at ensuring that citizens of a country enjoy social justice and protection by requiring the government to concern itself with economic and social interventions that alleviate the living standards of the citizens. These interventions may be in the sectors of health, education, housing and security and the highest standards are expected to be assured by the government of the day.
Party Discipline
- Every member of the Party shall sign and abide to the Party’s Code of Conduct.
- The Party leader shall nominate five members of the party to the Disciplinary Committee. Such nomination shall be approved by the National Executive Committee.
- In the event a member of the Disciplinary Committee is to appear before the Committee, the Party Leader shall appoint a replacement.
- Any party official or member who uses or attempts to use corrupt practices or favors to influence the party, its officials or members, representatives or groups of members of the party shall be deemed to have committed an act in breach of party discipline.
- The penalties for breaching party discipline include a warning, reprimand, and payment of fine, suspension and in grave circumstances, expulsion. Or any other punishment as may be prescribed by NEC
Our Mission & Vision
KDC Mission Statement
- To build a social, democratic state and society in which all Kenyans will have a better life and feel at home as individuals and cultural, marginalized communities and people living with disabilities.
Party Vision
- The Party’s vision shall be to establish a prosperous, nation where every citizen enjoys social, economic and democratic rights.
The Ward level
There shall be participation of all party members who are registered voters in any given ward as determined by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
The sub-branch (Constituency) level
The Sub-branch of the party shall comprise of all elected Ward Executive Committee (WEC) members in any given Constituency as ascertained by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
The Branch (County) level
The Branch or County level of the party shall comprise of all elected Sub-Branch (Constituency) Executive Committee (SBEC) members in any given County.
